A Focus on Safety.
Safety is an integral part of our culture at E.C. Pace Company. All of our personnel in supervisory roles are trained and certified in the work they perform. This includes OSHA Competent Person for Excavations and Confined Space, VDOT Basic and Intermediate Traffic Control, First Aid and Safety, and OSHA 10 Hour and 30 Hour Construction.
In order to continuously maintain a safe work environment, we utilize a third-party company to oversee our safety program. This company provides us with invaluable feedback from site visits and inspections to ensure that we maintain the highest safety standards for our employees, clients, and the general public.

A History Worth Celebrating.
The E.C. Pace story began in 1925 with Maxwell Hudgins, great-grandfather of current owner Mark Pace. After graduating from Georgia Tech, Maxwell came home to Virginia and began to build bridges and highways throughout the state. Nearly a century later, E.C. Pace Company employs more than 100 individuals and is an industry leader in technical quality and client service.
Our long history means we understand the unique regional design and construction challenges facing Southwest Virginia and have the experience to handle them.
With many repeat clients in both the public and private sector, what hasn’t changed over the last century is our commitment to building relationships and client satisfaction. It’s a tradition Maxwell Hudgins started and Mark Pace continues to honor.
